~~yes, i am aware that i read this over ten months ago. no, please don't ask me how much of it i remember, because i'll have to look up what happened before starting the second book anyhow :((~~

This is also a great book from Cassandra and a good start for another series and luckily it is a trilogy.
I have never experienced the same love for all the characters of the love triangle.
I don't know whom Tessa will choose at the end but I cheer for Will Herondale.
(maybe he is not the person that Tessa will choose; let's see that in Clockwork Prince.) ...more

Ok so... I'm not disappointed, but I was kinda expecting more from this at the same time. Does that make any sense?

Tessa, our main character in this series, sets out on a journey to find her brother Nathaniel, who has asked her to come live with him in London. In Clockwork Angel we follow the story of the Shadowhunters from the London Institute during the 19th century. Tessa, our main character in this series, sets out on a journey to find her brother Nathaniel, who has asked her to come live with him in London. Soon, Tessa realizes that things are not what they seem, and her life turns upside down as she finds herself immersed in the Shadow World, uncovering the secrets behind her brother's disappearance 鈥攁nd who, or what she really is.

The first thing I'd like to point out is the ambience. Cassie did a great job with the worldbuilding as always and the fact that her writing had matured a lot as well helped even more with the Victorian atmosphere she created. The tone that the narration had was completely different from what we've seen in TMI and I absolutely ADORED that, because it really felt how it was supposed to, in my opinion.

The plot is somewhat hard for me to describe: it was solid, but no matter how much I tried, I couldn't find it as fascinating as I wanted to. I thought the bad guys's plans were quite predictable. However, the story overall was interesting enough that it kept me expectant most of the time even though I knew where it was going, but I believe I would've liked it so much more if it weren't for the fact that I wasn't really attached to the characters, and therefore I couldn't really care that much about what was going on, especially what was going on with Tessa. Which takes me to the characters. I'll be honest with you: I already had this idea in my mind of how the characters were going to be (obviously because of what I knew from TMI) and it never occured to me that those characters I'd met before could be considerably... different than they were in the past. Tessa, for starters, was clearly not like the Tessa in City of Heavenly Fire. This one had zero knowledge about the Shadow World, or even the fact that she herself is a Downworlder, she asked too many questions and spent most of the time doing nothing at all. She did have a cool power that I'm intrigued to learn more about, and her personality was ok, but that's about it.
Will is a wild card for me. At times I loved him 鈥攖hose times being whenever he threw one of his many sarcastic remarks at anyone who could hear, his cute moments with Jem and MAYBE some of his "romantic" scenes with Tessa鈥� and at others, he was simply unbearable 鈥攂asically every other time. I know he's hiding a lot of things that will probably be revealed in the next books, but I couldn't really enjoy him being so rude for apparently no reason (at least no reason that's been explained). Apart from that, he made me laugh a lot, and I'm also really curious about what made him into such a grumpy ass. Here's to some character development in Clockwork Prince, hopefully.
Jem was my absolute favourite. I loved him before and I love him even more now. He's a soft boy, simply the best. I adore him with a passion and I want to protect him so bad it's actually embarrassing. I'm dying to know what the hell is going to happen with him, for obvious reasons. Also, can we just appreciate how gentle he is that EVERYONE LOVES HIM? He deserves better.
Jessamine is actually the one that intrigues me the most. I liked her a lot. Her story was addressed only briefly, but I want to learn more about her and I really wish for her to be closer to the rest of the "family". Her not wanting to be a Shadowhunter was actually so unexpected yet so appealing for some reason, and I liked that she stayed true to herself at all times (which can't be said about all the characters).

So basically, this series has the potential to sweep me off my feet, which is exactly what I'm hoping for. The first book was good, but I believe the others will be even better, so I trust Clockwork Prince to make a difference. ...more

I loved it....When I first read the Mortal Instruments I kind of had a huge crush on Jace and I always thought that no one was better than him. But when I read this beautiful story I fell in love with Will. I love how he is funny, handsome and is dark in his own way. It is true as Jem said that Will is difficult. So, Jem. I love him too. He is so understanding and soothing. Like he knows how to stay calm in every situation. I found Tessa more sensible than Clary, though she is also a teenager. A ...more

I really loved this book. I loved the writing a whole lot more than I did in Cassandra Clare's previous books, it feels more mature in a way? More refined? I don't really know how to explain it. It's just a whole lot better.
I love Tessa as a main character and I love Jem so much. He's such a gentle, soft spoken person, he just radiates Hufflepuff energy. I like Will, I feel like he's gonna grow on me and I really want to find out more about him. Charlotte, Henry and Sophie are such great charac ...more
