I had previously read Nassim Taleb's The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable; I enjoyed it, and this book is definitely better. Taleb has a very non-traditional style of writing--often conversational, historical, philosophical, and scientific--all at the same time.

More a review of me than of this book: I've been trying to read this book since 2013. Abandoned it several times due to the author coming across as a jerk. Left it for several years. This time, read it through, no issues with the tone. I didn't even find myself getting annoyed with it. I just ignored that part of it and paid attention to the information. Hmmm.
