Update This is a 10-star book. It is up for Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Awards, I should really get round to a proper review s it's paradigm-changing. Makes you think in a different way. Maybe tomorrow....

I've been in bed all day, reading with my one good eye (view spoiler). This book is definitely going to be a 10 star. It's main thrust is that all of us creatures see the world in quite a different way but that all of us think it is the only way. It is

This is a fascinating, engaging book. I read this book at the same time I was reading a science fiction novel about how a spider-like species senses the environment, through vibrations. Suddenly, I understood the issues and this book and the novel complemented one another.

For anyone who has ever wondered what it's like to really be a dog, or a whale, or a bat, or an electric eel, or wondered what a color that doesn't exist might look like, or how it would feel to be aware of the magnetic field all around you, Ed Yong has written you a book.

This book should appeal to people interested in philosophy, biology, consciousness, or just anybody who spent their childhood coming up with questions nobody could answer, trying to imagine things that weren't.

Besides the 5 sen

Chock full of fascinating science told in a very easy to understand and relatable way. Punctuated with amusing bits and I laughed out loud a few times.  I knew much of the core information but found all the different stories and facts fascinating. I loved the parts about perception and how we can only learn about animal senses through our limited animal senses.

Don't usually do audiobook but this is a good one or keeping my attention. I'd love to read a paper copy though. I absolutely loved this mind expanding book about animal senses. When a book causes you to think in a whole new way, that is the definition of a great book. Worth a sit down read for sure. ...more
