At first, this book was 3 stars. Then, about two-thirds of the way through, some exposition (no spoilers though 馃槈) bumped it up to 3.5. Then by the end? It'd gone up to 4 stars. So, since this'll be a pretty short, review, let's get into it, shall we?

馃挌 Characters 馃挌
Characters, the most important part of the book to me. So how did they do? I'd say, pretty average. Which, for me, means they were good! Calista, our main girl (whom the story is told through the first-person perspective of) didn't gra At first, this book was 3 stars. 馃挌 Characters 馃挌
Characters, the most important part of the book to me. So how did they do? I'd say, pretty average. Which, for me, means they were good! Calista, our main girl (whom the story is told through the first-person perspective of) didn't grab me at first. She seemed like any other FMC to me, and her intuition jumping in a lot was a bit annoying. But not even halfway through, I started to like her more. Once a little more of her situation was explained, and she started to grow as a character, she didn't irk me anymore. Especially after rescuing Thorne, our MMC. I flip-flopped on how much I liked him, honestly. In the beginning, he was enjoyable. Halfway, he had this... I don't know, some sort of semi-uncomfortable feeling about him. Maybe it was because he isn't human, but some his actions had a strange tone to them. Near the end, he was kind of in the same boat as Calista in my head. The side characters never changed to me though. I liked Claude and Naomi from the start!

馃挋 Story 馃挋
Enjoyable! I felt it was a little slow, especially in the middle, but never so much it made me put the book down. If it had been, I wouldn't be writing this review, would I? The world-building was good, especially with the fantasy cities, Hyhborn, and Caelestias.

鉂わ笍 Romance 鉂わ笍
I'll say it. They had chemistry with each other. Not so much that it sizzled off the page, but enough to be noticeable! The slight detachment may have come from the way Thorne spoke (kinda like a robot sometimes) but it didn't bother me too much. These two also have quite the physical attraction, if you know what I mean ;) I'd say the spice was probably a 3.5 or so on the pepper scale, with somewhat frequent steamy scenes that are detailed.

In conclusion, Fall of Ruin and Wrath wasn't a new favorite, but I didn't hate it by any means! I'm definitely going to read the sequel when it comes out! ...more
