To call this a masterpiece would be putting it mildly. The Prophet is beautifully written with stunning word choice, figurative language, and rhythm that combine to make the imagery dazzlingly effective. All the language serves to communicate profound & timeless insights into what it means to be alive. I already look forward to rereading this treasure.

I hesitate to use a single word to sum up literature that's worth so much more, but I'm going to do it anyway: profound.

The Prophet has lovely, insightful, and above all compassionate, things to say about life and universal human experiences.
I wish that Gibran wouldn't have tried to create a pseudo-story and instead just presented the ideas. All the repetitive questions/demands of "the people" took away from the soul of the book for me. ...more
