Shelves: non-fiction
Bryson is a clever writer, and he obviously did a tremendous amount of research for this book. Lots of review if you have a background in the earth and life sciences, but there are some fun bits of trivia thrown in. I didn't find it terribly effective to try to cover so many topics so briefly. I also found some of the explanations of controversies to be lacking in clarity and too superficial for the subject matter.
