An amazing, fantastic, and wonderful book that immediately moves to my favorites shelf. The Book Thief was on my to read list for a long time as it was recommended by three family members. I received it for Christmas from a stepdaughter this year. Well chosen books make great gifts.

Okay, if I could give this book 10 stars I would! Zusak so accurately describes what it's like to be orphaned - and watch your brother die right in front of you, only to be handed off to strangers because your mother is a communist. Wrote in past-tense ww2, he brings to life friendships that are never forseen, bomb shelters that are used, and a night that you never saw coming - The Book Thief is definitely a new favorite!
