I just put this lovely book down and sat and cried. I love the story of these two teenagers who meet in a cancer support group. Hazel, has a cancer that will someday take her life. Augustus, his leg amputated and his cancer in remission. Both characters are terribly likable - and even better, they are realistic. Yes, this is a tear-jerker. But its a smart tearjerker. The idea of a book about children with cancer sounds horrible: so easy to slip into stereotypical and boring cliches, to be overly sentimental and maudlin. But John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars is nothing less than extraordinary for its utter avoidance of these tropes.

A love story about teenagers with cancer. I know, it sounds awful...I thought so too which is why I took so long to get around to reading this one. I was missing out! This is the perfect blend of the sarcasm of teenagers, the existential questions of humanity, and the excitement of young love.
