More like a 3.5 maybe 3.75 stars. I enjoyed it for the most part, but I did find the plot to be quite unoriginal, it seemed to be a mix of a bunch of other YA novels thrown together and I didn't connect with any of the characters which made it hard for me to fully immerse myself and get into the story! I'm interested enough to read Glass Sword and I'm hoping in the sequel I'll connect more to the characters!

Aside from the acclaim, I picked this one up because Victoria Aveyard is a local author for me, so chalk one up for hometown pride!
I was taken by surprise by how much I loved this book! The premise seemed very typical: a poor girl who lives by thieving wants nothing more than to protect her best friend Kilorn (Gale?) and sister Gisa (Prim?) from the upper class Silver government. Just when she's at the end of her line--Gisa can no longer work and Killian is drafte ...more

Is set in the future or is an advanced medieval era? Maybe is a medieval future, with royalty and castles + technology, either way I felt it all over the place. Is like a fantasy x-men where the x-men rules over the non-specials.
Honestly, I was more focus in the love square (yes, you read that right). At least the ending (the choice she made) seems right to me.
I'm not sure if I wan to continue with the series Forget that, I read the synopsys and I want to read it, but I'm not in a rush.

"In the stories, the old fairy tales, a hero comes. But all my heroes are gone or dead. No one is coming for me."
•Lovers of the X-men, The Hunger Games, and The Selection this is the book for you. A world of people are divided by Reds or Silvers. Reds are a powerless people living under the supernatural Silvers. The Silvers have the money, power (like X-men powers and power over the land), and have all control of what the world sees through there media outlet. Anyone who crosses the Silvers is ...more

I think I'll write a review soon. I have to think more about the book first. I really wanted to love this book but it was just missing something. I think the second book has potential though.

Overall I did like this book but I'm not in love with it. I'm interested to know what happens in the next one but I'm not attached to any of the characters.
So I listened to this book on Audio and frankly if I would have had to read a hard copy of it I'm not sure I would have made it all the way through. That is mostly because the beginning was so slow and I was super bored for at least the first 25% of the book. I upped the speed on the reader just to push through.

I've read conflicting reviews of this book, but honestly I really enjoyed it. It's reminiscent of other dystopian series like Hunger Games and Divergent, but has its own unique story and twists. I though it was a well written and interesting read.
