I really was hung up on the fact that Sylvia, obviously distraught by her family history, wouldn't just finish reading the memoir in one sitting. Granted, it made for a longer, possibly more interesting story this way. But seriously, who would dwell on bad things that could have happened in the past while having free time and not delve further into finding it out? Especially when one has a book containing it all?
