I think part of my avoiding quilting included avoiding reading books about quilters too. I started this shortly after Jennifer's visit to Utah. I was excited to meet her and get my books signed. Bonnie is the character that I've loved to hate. She's self centered, ready to believe the worst of herself and the best of others, and head strong - it's her way or the highway. Needless to say, when I first met her I saw a lot of myself in her and often wondered, it that how people see me.

I enjoyed the Hawaiian culture and history in the book. I appreciated the details of the Hawaiian quilt's origins. I didn't like going through Bonnie's tedious divorce. It bogged the plot down. I'm still glad I read it. This is the closest I'm ever going to get to a Hawaiian vacation.
