I think part of my avoiding quilting included avoiding reading books about quilters too. I started this shortly after Jennifer's visit to Utah. I was excited to meet her and get my books signed. Bonnie is the character that I've loved to hate. She's self centered, ready to believe the worst of herself and the best of others, and head strong - it's her way or the highway. Needless to say, when I first met her I saw a lot of myself in her and often wondered, it that how people see me.

well Jennifer Chiaverini surprised me again. I have loved most of her books and was wondering how she could write another one and still talk about patchwork. Well I found the Aloha quilt very interesting. I was sorry when it finished well I will have to find another book of hers.
I really like the Elm Creek Quilters series that deal with the lives of the current day quilters. This one was about Bonnie who was going through a nasty divorce and retreated to Hawaii to get her life back on track. I learned something about Hawaiian quilts through this book.
I enjoyed the Hawaiian culture and history in the book. I appreciated the details of the Hawaiian quilt's origins. I didn't like going through Bonnie's tedious divorce. It bogged the plot down. I'm still glad I read it. This is the closest I'm ever going to get to a Hawaiian vacation.
