What Members Thought

Abby Jimenez doesn’t write romcoms so much as mental health romance.
Emma is a complex character, and has so much unpacked trauma she hasn’t even realised she barely functions as an adult.
Justin is all in, and makes this story really work. His evites and surveys gave this book the little spark of fun it needed and added lightness is what was oftentimes a really heavy plot.

It is a fast read, and it had a little bit of surprise for me. Though the plot is predictable and characters are the romance cliche characters, most handsome, nicest, self aware and caring man and most beautiful, smart and caring woman, there was an element of real world in it.
The neglect and treatment Emma received from her mom was awful and made this book stand out from other cliche romances for me.
A good read for Valentine.

First of all, this book should have been called Am I The Asshole?
Second of all, the island analogy had me dancing in a choke hold. So relatable.
This book had such great humor, especially chapter 19 🤣 Leigh is my spirit animal.
Not only was this book humorous, it was heartbreaking, filled with deception.
Justin is an entire dream. We all need a Justin on a unicorn floatie. 🦄
