We remember specific days for particular reasons. Some come every year, others are once in a lifetime treasures. Time is kind to us, softening the edges of those hurtful days and enhancing those days filled with joy.

Usually those visiting us annually are anticipated with barely contained glee. Past experiences heighten our eagerness for their arrival. In the most recent collaboration between Candace Fleming and Eric Rohmann, Bulldozer's Big Day (Atheneum Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Si

A day at the construction site but no one seems to care that it is Bulldozer's birthday! But in the end it all works out! I fun onomatopoeia book! Who knew words lifting (yes lifting) would be such a great onomatopoeia word . It think feeff though not a word is very descriptive! ...more

nicely illustrated, but overall weak story line. may be fascinating to a toddler fascinated by trucks and construction equipment, and the accompanying sounds are fun for read-aloud, but the birthday theme seems to get lost in the midst of the construction.

A bulldozer is cruising around the construction site asking his friends what day it is. Everyone seems to busy to remember that it's Bulldozer's birthday!

A fun read for those who like construction books and for a construction or birthday storytime.

Bulldozer thinks his friends the other construction machines have forgotten his birthday. But just what are those machines making anyway? Nicely done basic story line that sticks to one point, being remembered.

I'm not a fan of the plots where people/bulldozers are tricked into feeling bad, even if they end up happy at the end. Extra star for the appeal to truck-loving kids. ...more

Good for children that enjoy stories set in construction sites with large trucks, this is the story of a bulldozer that believes that everyone has forgotten his birthday, until quitting time when it is revealed that they were planning a big surprise for him. This story contains a lot of onomatopoeia, so it would be good if you were teaching that. A fun, simple book.
