With brightly-colored gouache illustrations and the constant reminder that Native Americans haven't disappeared into the misty past as might be surmised from history books, this picture book states that "We are still here?" (p. 5), a refrain that might seem to state the obvious but is actually a rallying call of sorts. The information presented here is important as a supplement to the current social studies curriculum in schools, and it's shared here through the presentations of 12 students on v

So many important truths discussed in this book. I would use this with older elementary/middle school students as a jumping off point in learning more. (And there is SO much for many of us to learn!)

An absolutely outstanding work of nonfiction. I could see this text be used to involve younger readers with our one book one community read this next fall. Don't miss the back matter!
