A darling picture book with marvelous paper fold outs. Children will love the lyrical text as well as the warm and sincere illustrations by Daniel Miyares. Miyares is one of my very favorite illustrators. His heart shows in everything he creates. Children can see this in every image. A must have book!

I loved the paintings, the folded papers introducing each section, and the jumble of items on each of the end papers. The illustrations enhanced the lyrical text and helped to visualize the concepts. This book would be a good jumping-off place for young listeners to decide on their own big, small, and in-between things.

A thoughtful picture book with clever paper engineering that quietly explores the concept of big, small, and in-between. The text and illustrations are insightful in capturing heartfelt observations for each concept and work well independently, but are even more poignant when seen altogether. This is the type of book that is meant to be read carefully and often. A very interesting book to ponder. I especially enjoyed pondering over the in-between:

12/25/2023 ~ There are layers and layers to this book. I can't wait to read it again to see the connections between the first half and the second half. Also, Miyares illustrations and the ways in which they work with the text are amazing. For example, notice the page about jumping into the deep end (off a diving board) or the page with the bird with the worm.

Lovely picture book with illustrated examples of big, in-between, and small things. They aren't always things which expands the conversations that can be had around the book.
