The book sheds light on the problem of albino killings that are encouraged in Tanzania due to a belief that albino body parts bring good luck. She write from the perspective of a young albino boy in Tanzania. In the story she addresses the very real and horrible problem of albino discrimination and killings. This chilling human rights issue is intertwined with the personal issues of self-esteem and identity as a young Tanzanian boy learns to love himself and too survive.
It is cultural, endearing, and captivating and horrifying all at once. A wonderful read!
