I absolutely love it. It's a hilarious satire on the Oriental story and the Gothic novel and Romance in General. Some people seem to miss that though and if you take it too seriously it probably really sucks.

"Vathek" is interesting - a gothic Arabian tale, originally written in french about a man who can kill with just a glance, making a deal with a devil. The concept is cool and I can respect that this is one of the pillars of classic horror that all others were built upon.
I didn't love the reading experience it was very muddled and confusing. I'm glad it was short because it would've been a slog otherwise.
