By far the LONGEST book that I've read so far this year! This hefty tome clocked in at over 900 pages. BUT, I love Murakami and was really looking forward to reading this one.
The book's chapters alternate between the various protagonists. The main 2 characters are Tengo & Aomame, who are both 30 and living in Tokoyo in 1984 (or is it 1Q84???).
Like most Murakami books, this is not the book for you if you like everything fully explained. There is so much going on in this book that is never truly ...more

This was a great first book to read as my first Murakami book. This book was such a great experience! The writing was lyrical without being purple and I really cared about the characters. The characters all felt real even if some were somewhat fae-like, and the style, tone, plot, just everything came together beautifully.
