My dad laughed when I told him this was the book I read on the train, but I actually think it was the perfect way to read it. This was my second time reading it. The first time I got so wrapped up in the whirlwind, breakneck speed in which it is written, perfectly crafted to put you in Raskolnikov's head, that I had no idea what hit me after I finished it. I am really not very good at reviews, and I am not going to try to write one, because there are plenty of reviews and summaries that are available. In a nutshell, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It ranks up there with Anna Karenina, although, not quite the level of War and Peace, IMHO.

Crime and Punishment is called a masterpiece of Russian and world literature. The main character is a Raskolnikov, a young, intellect, a student who is perhaps ill or very depressed, no longer going to school, no longer earning any money.
