What Members Thought

By the later part of the book I was getting somewhat fatigued with Gordon Comstock's stubborn "principles", but I think that was intended. The story has just enough to it to sustain some interest, it's the paragraph-by-paragraph writing, which is excellent, that really kept me involved. A very different kind of book than Orwell's 1984 and Animal Farm, which were later works.

I really like Orwell, I do. I think he is an immensely talented writer and parts of this book are hilarious and biting in their criticisms of post-war capitalistic British society and he is able to paint an in-depth look at a very unique, sad, and incredibly unlikable character. But, it honestly went on way too long with no progress and I grew bored.
