I wasn't sure how I was going to rate this book, to be honest. I really wanted this to be a 5-star read but in the end, I settled on 4-stars. On one hand, it is a beautifully written book. V.E. Schwab has a wonderful, lyrical style that grabbed me instantly. I found myself writing down quotes from the book (I didn't put them on my GR b/c I thought some of them might be too spoiler-ish). 4.5+ so I'm torn whether to bump it up or down.
1. Transparent writing that allowed the story to move freely
2. well limned characters with foibles
3. visited 3 of my all time favorite cities (Paris, NYC, New Orleans)
4. One humdinger of a story that kept me swept up from start to end.
Missing: wisdom. I just felt like there should have been more of a takeaway... I really enjoyed this tale and it was surprising (which is pretty rare for me). We'll see, if I'm still thinking about it in a week I'll pr ...more

When I started this book I was worried it would pale in comparison to Pete Hamil’s Forever, one of my top 10 favorite books. It seemed to take on a similar premise but focus on sex and days instead of the changes in the world throughout the course of time.
