How do you think people and children lived in Renaissance Italy. Carole Roman shows you how with her colorful book about the Renaissance. She gives a good overall history of Italy at that time as well as important people of the time such as Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael, Leonardo D'Vinci (remember the Ninja Turtles?) and Gallileo. Even an adult such as me can learn from this book. I love the colorful illustrations and the glossary in the back of the book is quite helpful for the younger peopl ...more

I have always wanted to visit Italy, and now I can say I have through this wonderfully written book about Florence Italy that took me back to an amazing place in time. IF YOU WERE ME AND LIVED IN...RENAISSANCE ITALY by Carole P. Roman, not only showed me the style of dress from that time period, but how the people ate, what they ate, where and how they lived, and how the children, after reaching a certain age, acted. To me, they seemed as little adults ready to take on the world. I also loved t

Carole P. Roman is the author of a series of books that begin with “If You Were Me and Lived in . . . and they cover many countries and time periods. In general, they are written at the level of the late second grade reader, although this one is a bit longer and more advanced.
The subject is the Italian city of Florence at the time when learning and the arts were emerging from the long shadows of what has often been called the “Dark Ages. Florence was a dynamic city-state, one of the leaders

“If You Were Me and Lived in Renaissance Italy by Carole P. Roman will take you back five hundred years ago, to Tuscany (Tus-ca-nee) outside of Florence, governed by the Medicis (me-di-cheez), a rich and very powerful family. People would work on the lands that belonged to the local ruler.

It was a dangerous time, and only some children went to school. A change was happening and it was hard to go from the Middle Age to what they called Renaissan

I adore this book! Your child will get to learn about music, art and games. They'll see how some things are similar and how some things are different. With this series of books you can nudge your child's interest in history. The illustrations are so beautiful, you'll enjoy them as well.

I love author Carole P. Roman's books. They teach and they include so much fun you won't want to put them down. Your child won't realize they are learning. Years from now, they'll hear something in high school a

Ms. Roman has written many "If You Were Me and Lived in...... but this one on Renaissance Italy is for a child who might be a little older then her original books which were geared to younger children. This will be a fun way to learn about how different our lives are today compared to living in the 15th century. The pictures are great and help to explain the many new thing you will learn.
Things have certainly have changed compared to the homes we lived in, the clothes we wore, things we ate and

In an upgrade from her original non-fiction series, "If You Were Me and Lived In...", author, Carole P. Roman now takes children on a historical ride. Children can emerge in cultural periods around the world while learning the experiences of children of the time period.

Some similarities in format are the same as the original series: foods eaten, clothes worn, and games played. However, this series is for the older child who wants to learn even deeper lessons in cultures. The reading is more comp
