“She knew what the 11 o'clock news would say: There was a killer on the loose. People should lock their doors. Women should look over their shoulders, try not to be alone at night. Parents should look out for their daughters and always know where they are. Women should carry a whistle or a flashlight. Because if you were a woman, the world was a dangerous place.

From the blurb/synopsis we get that the book is set in both 1982 (Viv's pov) and 2017 (Carly's pov).
Carly comes to Fell, New York after looking for clues to the disappearance of her aunt Viv from 35 yrs ago. Viv was basically the black sheep of their family. No one was allowed to speak of her all these years, even after she went missing.

Had no expectations or any idea what it was about but I really enjoyed it and may read her other stuff.

Yes. Absolutely. Read this book. Sooooo many things to love -- if you love dark. I loved the 2 MCs
and traveling back and forth between their two stories. I loved the ghosts -- angry, sad and vengeful. I loved Nick. Yes I did. loved the creepiness of the hotel, which was a character itself. I loved how almost everything takes place at night, which is perfect for a ghost story. This was a real page-turner for me. I Loved It!!! 5 creepy stars.
