What Members Thought

I immensely regret to say that I did not like this book as much as I would have liked too. I think I was over-expecting from this book - because I love Greek Mythology and from a woman’s POV makes it more unique and interesting. And a witch? Oh gosh! Count me in!
But - What I got was Circe in an island who ... well.... didn’t feel like she did anything.
Sorry to all the Circe lovers out there - But I was not a fan of this book.

When reading a book written in first person narrative, I often still find myself outside of the store, an omniscient observer, perhaps enthralled, but always conscious of where I end and the story begins. In reading Circe, I became her, the witch of Aiaia, feeling her pain and loneliness in isolation on her island, sharing in her joy and her wonder at the transitory nature of love and the fierceness of motherhood. Si les gusta la mitologÃa griega, este es el libro adecuado para ustedes. Madeline Miller nos relata la historia de Circe, de quien sabemos bastantito, pero aún asÃ, a través de la ficción nos lleno algunos huecos para complementar la historia. Todo lo que leà en esta novela es hasta cierto punto real (el minotauro, Odiseo, etc.), pero genuinamente disfrute el dialogo de los personajes, los pensamientos de Circe, porque encajaron muy bien con lo que sucede.
