What Members Thought

I have never been a fan of Historial romance, but I think that Ms. Moning may have freed me from all of those foolish thoughts.
This book was magnificent, a touch of the present and the swift leap back into the past. A world of magic, castles, warriors, lairds, maidens, gypsys and evil doers. The journey that Adrienne (female main)takes to the past is mystifying and suspenseful. Her encounters with the men of Scotland's highlands, true tall, dark and handsome six foot plus towering specimines, on ...more

What an intriguing idea for time travel - the fairy folk interfere out of anger or revenge. And that was after the Hawk had a miserable 15 years serving a very vengeful king. Adrienne got the best of the deal - she was whisked out of a life she didn't really want, but just when they both had what they wanted, the fairy fool interfered again. And this was all because the fairy queen lied!!! Lots of angst for a while, but what a wonderful last chapter and epilogue.

Hmm... I'm not really sure how to classify this book. There's time travel and a Puck, so I guess paranormal romance? Whatever, this is really more of a 2 1/2. It was better than ok, but there was something that grated me about it. But it won't stop me from reading the rest of the series. Especially because I liked the character Grimm and he is the main guy in the next book, and I do have a weakness for the Highlanders. Really I didn't realized it until I started reading the IAD series, but it's

Book 1 of the Highlander series.
This was really good! For some reason, I didn’t think that I’d like it, but I do! I love the main characters- Hawk and Adrienne! He is a womanizer, has bedded thousands of women (in the year 1513). Adrienne is from 1997, brought back in time by a vengeful fae and his king because she hates beautiful men. The king of the fae is tired to his queen (Aoibheal) talking of what a great specimen of man Hawk is (you’ll recognize fae queen as the Seelie queen in the Fever ...more

What can I say. I loved this series when I read it the first time, and listening to it on audio only made it that much better.
The romance between Hawk and Adrianne was thick and heady, heat sizzled and lingered in the air. Althougth Adrianne had sworn off beautiful men altogether, she wasn't aware of the intense beauty of this man. The beauty she found within this man, deep in his soul and the unfathomable love and passion in his heart.
Adrianne would give anything to have one such as him and did ...more

For being a modern 20th century girl from 1997, Ari adjusted too well to 16th century Scotland for my liking. I thought she would've missed modern technology more than she did. She only mentioned missing hot water. Only hot water?! And she didn't even seem bored when her days were mostly empty. No TV, no internet, no job and only a limited number of books -I'd die of boredom! Even with a hot husband and his loving mother for a companion.

I was already a big fan of Karen Marie Moning since reading the fever series so I decided to read this series as well. I have to say I was not disappointed at all! I was absolutely mesmerized by this story. I love Adrienne and Hawk and they were both well written characters, who each had their own flaws. The book had a good flow to it that just kept me wanting to keep reading. I was happy with the ending and am looking forward to the next book in the series. I fell for these two characters and e

The characters were very annoying and I could not really get into the romance - it just didn't work for me. ('the taming' ugh). The writing style was not that great for me either. I did finish it though so there was something keeping me interested at least.
