If you count Fantasy Lover (which I do) this book is the 4th in her "vampire" series. One of my favorites in the series! Another character to get attached to, one of many in her series. The hero, Zarek (who was the unwanted son of a Greek slave and a Roman senator), is the most unstable Dark-Hunter of them all (which is why he's stationed in Alaska- alone). Astrid, the heroine, and a goddess is sent (undercover) to judge to see if Zarek should be killed.

I like all of these books, some more than others, this is one I like a little more. One of the things all of these books have in common is that the main character (usually a dark hunter-is someone who had a very hard life when they were human and have emotional scars) The books are about redemption and recovering your humanity. The Dark Hunter series is a great mix of Urban Fantasy and Romance. Very Erotic, not for the prudish.

My god, my heart ached for Zarek. What wonderful book. Not tortured side of Zarek's life but the love of our wonderful Astrid who showed how to love. I was surprised by the ending but can't go into why, don't want to spoil anything for those of you who have not read it yet. I highly recommend this book and this series.
