I actually really enjoyed this book. I wasn't expecting it to be great, and I could tell right off the bat that this wasn't Card's writing style. But Johnston does pretty well, even if some of the writing isn't the best. The story was told well and at a good pace and as he matures as a writer I think he'll get even better.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. But it's Orson Scott Card so I don't know why I doubted.

This is unlike any of Card's other books that I've read. Perhaps that's because it's co-authored with someone else, and is based on a screen play which was in turn based on a short story of Card's. Whatever the reason, this focuses more on biological and medical science than do Card's other science fiction works, which are more in the nature of space opera. Invasive Procedure was good enough to hold my attention, but lacked the awe I experience in reading other of his works. It's more down to Earth than the other stories I've read. All in all, it is not bad, but not amazing. It is simply good.
