The continuation of my adoration for Terry Goodkind heroes.
Goodkind populates this story with a variety of characters and conflicts that make the story timeless. It doesn't matter that it was set well before his debut series, because when humans are involved the conflicts are always the same; free will versus determinism. The mind versus mindlessness. Life versus death. Only the best stories can handle this theme in its entirety, and The First Confessor does a first class job on the theme.

Now this is the Terry Goodkind I remember! Being a faithful fan of the Sword of Truth series, even I coudn't help getting frustrated by the tailend of the series. This "prequel" is all it needs to be to bring all of the awesomeness back front & center. It makes me want to read the whole series over again.
Thank you Mr. Goodkind for bringing it all back :) ...more
