Cameron is a teenage boy who has chosen a cross road, as people say, in his life, and it's the wrong path. Doing drugs, cutting class, swearing, pretty much your average bad boy. Not longer after he meets a dwarf in the pot bathrooms, his whole life is changed, his destiny, changed. He starts seeing things, imagining things and hallucinating to a point where he's not sure what's real and what's not. The dwarf he met in the bathrooms ends up being next to him and a mysterious girl with angels wings appears to him, though not the kind that arrives the information that you won't be seeing your friends or family any longer. No, this girl has given him a mission, to go on an adventure to stop Dr. X and save the universe. His reward? A chance for a cure, since Dr. X has proved string theories and different dimensions, he's the only one with the cure. The question is, will he be willing to go on the journey? He's told to bring Gonzo, the dwarf he hardly knows, and says that he gets something in return. Given a "E-Ticket" and takes a chance, going on a perilous journey to save the universe, and to find a cure.

Over the adventure, they're stopped at many obstacles that they must oversee. They learn about friendship, trust, love, and learn about each other and dark secrets that they're scared to know theirselves.

I absolutely loved this book. The beginning is sort of hard to catch up one since i'm not all that big on the swearing and stuff. I didn't quite enjoy the obstacles since it reminded me all too much like the Lightning Thief which I did enjoy, but it felt too similar. Though there was that, as I got deeper and deeper in the book, the journey became harder, tension higher, and death near. As you get to the end, you discover the meaning of the book and you realize, though some parts may be extrememly corny and unrealistic, you realize that you see the meaning, the sadness, the happiness, and everything inbetween and you absolutely love it! :) Plus, the writing is impecable ...more

Had this book not been written by Libba Bray, I may not have picked it up. But holy cow (sorry... had to...) it's fantastic! Bray writes heros as well as she writes heroines and Cameron's journey (which may or may not be a figment of his imagination) is an awesome ride. My personal favorite part of the book is his visit to CESSNAB (Church of Everlasting Satisfaction and Snack 'n' Bowl), but I love the whole thing. Libba Bray is a genius and I will read absolutely anything she writes. ...more

A glorious madman's ride of heartbreaking intensity. Beautifully funny, but also incredibly sad. A wonderful book that absolutely deserved its award. Yes, a little long, but it's all absolutely necessary. I suggest brushing up on your Norse myth and Wagner plotlines before reading. ...more
