[close] It's a new adult book. The characters are 18 yrs old. However, the main character Keiran is a complete hottie. To read this story you would think you were reading an adult story. To give you a little hint Keiran is no mere boy. As a child he was raised to be an assassin. Now he is an 18 yr. old high school man. I can't say boy because he is no boy. He is extremely possessive and domineering. I promise that you will love this nook.

So loved this one! The passion, the intensity, and the darkness just totally consumed me! Can鈥檛 wait to start book two!! Two damaged people find themselves so dominated by each other. Even though they swear to stay away, they both keep coming back for more. Both individuals鈥� stories are so heartbreaking. Kieran being so cold and calculating by bullying Lake since they鈥檝e been young children. And, Lake swearing to not let Kieran in, just can鈥檛 help by being so attracted and obsessed with him. Kie So loved this one! The passion, the intensity, and the darkness just totally consumed me! Can鈥檛 wait to start book two!! Two damaged people find themselves so dominated by each other. Even though they swear to stay away, they both keep coming back for more. Both individuals鈥� stories are so heartbreaking. Kieran being so cold and calculating by bullying Lake since they鈥檝e been young children. And, Lake swearing to not let Kieran in, just can鈥檛 help by being so attracted and obsessed with him. Kieran has so many secrets that he is keeping, and he just won鈥檛 let Lake get a glimpse of the man he deeply wants to be but knows he鈥檚 incapable of since the 鈥渄arkness鈥� has totally overtaken his soul. When the truth is finally revealed about Kieran鈥檚 past and how vile and damaging it really is, I couldn鈥檛 help but feel tearfully sorrowful for him. It鈥檚 beyond me how young children can be pushed to such lengths as adults damage their young minds and pure essence. Just so horrifying that these things can actually happen!!

This book totally exhausted me for two days! It was draining and bleak! I didn鈥檛 know what to expect to happen in the end. Not really a cliffhanger so to speak, but more of a 鈥渘ow I have to get into book two to see how their story ends.鈥� So many secrets revealed, but there鈥檚 so much more the reader has to know in order to understand everything that Kieran has gone through. And, what about Lake? How does her life tie into Keiran鈥檚 as their connection is finally revealed? Ms. Reid created a brilliant gem of a novel! The supporting characters just brought more realism to the story. And, the villains? Well let鈥檚 just say they were evil with a capital 鈥淓鈥�! No regret to their despicableness! Greed was practically the only thing that drove these people 鈥� whether it be for money or power! Family meant NOTHING!! It was all about them. So, the villains were perfectly portrayed. Yeah, it was hard to put this one down to do anything purposeful during the day. I just couldn't stop reading it! Riveting and clever are words that I would use to describe Keiran and Lake鈥檚 story. They were both strong and confident characters with a mission 鈥� to consume each other totally while trying to get the other to break!! This author is definitely one that I am a fan of! Her writing was impeccable and exciting. Going right into book two, Fear You, now!!

OK so I may get backlash for this one but I feel like this book was as if Bully, FSOG, and Fallen Crest High had a book baby! I'm pretty much like some of the people on here that didn't like the first half of this book. Or maybe not that I didn't like it, but come on. I find it hard to believe that they would just let this kind of abuse go on for a long as it did.

Shelves: psychological, romance, delightfully-trashy, thriller

Finally, decently written contemporary romance trash. The dialogue was snappy and consistent for each character's personalities, the characters are fun (including the friends and side characters) and most of all, the author was constantly increasing the tension and the stakes of the plot to keep the reader captivated.
