I wanted to know what happened to Alex and Eve, what was so bad that they split, but not completely. I knew it would be bad, but when it was revealed what happened I was stunned, it was very bad. I understood why a frustrated Eve used divorce as a last resort, why she then used the contract as a way to keep in contract with Alex, why she became the Ice Queen and regimented her life so much. What I didn't understand was why Alex wasn't hearin I have been waiting for this book since the first one. I wanted to know what happened to Alex and Eve, what was so bad that they split, but not completely. I knew it would be bad, but when it was revealed what happened I was stunned, it was very bad. I understood why a frustrated Eve used divorce as a last resort, why she then used the contract as a way to keep in contract with Alex, why she became the Ice Queen and regimented her life so much. What I didn't understand was why Alex wasn't hearing what she was saying, he was her Dom, she is/was in his care, he should be able to understand non-verbal cues, but he missed them all.

I had hope at the start of the book. Eve it seemed was finally able to thaw a bit and was looking to change things with Alex. Too bad the bad came back in their lives and Alex started doing the same things that drove Eve away in the first place. I liked that Eve gave him an ultimatum, that he needed to pick what/who was more important to him, too bad he choose wrong.

I was happy to see that the other women in the group sat down with Eve and gave her a frank talk about what exactly she was going to loose if things were left as they were. Those women, boy oh boy, they are sneaky, especially Serena, who drew on her imagination, for one last move.

I knew Alex was going to be beyond pissed, but at this point he would have to accept things. I also knew that things were going to be very uncomfortable for both Alex and Eve, having to play an affectionate D/s couple undercover. I even wondered if they could pull it off.

To say that things were rocky is an understatement. The first night things came to a head, but in a way that they needed to. Eve and Alex were finally forced to talk about the past, to bring up why each did what they did. It ended with them hugging, foreheads together, tears running down their faces, with one last kiss goodbye, and Alex asking for one last night (the first in 5 years) just to hold her. Can you say heartbreaking??? This was it for them, after the op was done, both would be able to move on, Eve even thought that meant leaving the job and her friends for a new start. I didn't really know what to think. Part of me was so very sad, the other part thought, well ok, maybe now each can find happiness.

Of course the next day the world turned around. Alex gave Eve a kiss, she questioned him, what is this about, we said good bye. He agreed, the old Alex and the old Eve said goodbye, this was the new Alex and the new Eve starting out, just like the 80 year old Alex would be there to hold her hand. I LOVED it, but knew that it didn't mean things were going to be rainbows and puppy dogs for them, but they had a starting spot and hope, the most important part!

The op was interesting as it brought someone who knew too much about the group and seemed too eager to help them. About half way through I started to get an inkling about this new person, as the book went on the feeling got stronger. By the end, I was proven right. I can't wait to read more about it in the next book!

When the bad guys were revealed in this book, I was sort of stunned with the close connection to Alex and Eve and the why of it. The betrayal of such a good friend is bad, the why of it so much worse. I was glad to see that the main person and they why both got theirs.

I am intrigued by the new "puppy" the group has acquired. I have a feeling that the lost feeling the puppy has been feeling will go away with the new family and lifestyle he has found. ...more

This was a very emotional ride from beginning to end. I really enjoyed getting to read Alex's and Eve's story. While they find their happily ever after, it is not without some serious heart ache. The book ends with one hell of a reveal...I can't wait to jump into Ian's story! ...more
