Just wanted to give a very brief review of Claiming the Courtesan because there are lots of reviews with summaries written about it already.

I wasn't sure how the author could handle the rape scenes without totally turning me off to the rest of the book. I was prepared to dislike Kylemore, but as the book progressed, I felt a deep sympathy for him and what he had been through as a child. That didn't excuse how he treated Verity, but as the book progressed, it became less about him forcing her and

Claiming the Courtesan is one of those books that seems to polarize readers. I think there are a couple of obvious reasons for this:

1. Many readers do not like to read a courtesan/prostitute character as the heroine

Its funny I've read a lot of romances with a similar theme but this didn't sit well with me at all. Kylemore was overbearing and the belief that

This book was such an emotional rollercoaster for me. I laughed and cried and laughed and cried again. I cannot say enough how much I truly enjoyed this book. Kylemore will always have a special place in my heart. This book was so well written that I feel it deserves more than 5 stars!

3.5 Stars. I get why everybody is torn about the book. There was rape/forced seduction and kidnapping with no thoughts or care of the person being kidnapped. AC did a good job with Justin's redemption. ...more
