I could tell when I started this one that I was going to like the hero, Nathan Drake. The story starts out with some scenes of Nathan in action as a Special Forces soldier that illustrate what kind of man he is--brave and self-sacrificing, and looking out for everyone but himself. The book started off really good. We learn about Nathan Drake while he is on a special ops mission. He gets word that his brother is in trouble and that his mother is dying.
The next thing you know "Nathan Drake" is dead.

Reminded me of Lisa Marie Rice's Midnight series, without the explicit sex descriptions. I prefer Rice's novels, but this was good. Nathan Drake was a little too self-sacrificing, however - his middle name could have been Jesus. And for a woman in law enforcement, Terri Mitchell was a little too obtuse and untrained. Nice read, however, and I'm looking forward to the next in the series. ...more
