Great read. This is a direct sequel to Shades of Midnight where Jenna and Brock's story actually starts. The paranormal storyline continues the fight against Dragos that has been going on for several books now.
As usual, Lara Adrian does a superb job of balancing the action with the romance. The action is intense as the Order struggles to track down the missing Breedmates and destroy both Dragos and the plans he seems to have put in place. The chemistry between Brock and Jenna, who both have enou ...more

In the frozen Alaskan wilderness, former state trooper Jenna Darrow survives an unspeakable breach of body and soul. But with her narrow escape comes an even greater challenge. For strange changes are taking place within her, as she struggles to understand and control a new hunger. Well it got 4 stars because I like this series and the characters. ***MILD SPOILERS***However, I felt like we were totally left hanging. I didn't like that all the other couples had a connection to where they could feel each other's emotions but Brock/Jenna did not. And this thing in Jenna??? What is going to happen? I have to assume we will learn more about it in Hunter's book (which I am VERY excited about).

Nice addition to the Midnight Breed series. It was a little open-ended in what is going to happen with Jenna as she is not an actual Breedmate. However, it seemed pretty clear she is not quite human any longer. I'm sure she and Brock will be together for centuries.
The ending was a great surprise and I really enjoyed it.

I'm giving this 4 1/2 stars.. Ms. Adrian has done it again. This book was very good. I love Jenna, she's a strong woman that knows her own mind. Does she make mistakes?? Sure, but who doesn't? She meets Brock through and unfortunate event and things begin to bloom for them. Brock is the big handsome warrior with a wicked smile and amazing eyes. They both feel the pull, but Brock is determined to stay away since he is her protector. He's afraid because things didn't work ow well the last time he

GOOD GAWD! I didn't really know what to expect from Brock but I was blown away. I loved that Brock and Jenna weren't too fickle with their attraction, making excuses of why they couldn't be with each other.

Okay story, I never really connected emotionally to the main characters. The ending was too open ended, we don't know what is happening to the heroine.
