This beautiful novel is the 4th by the gifted writer Anna-Marie McLemore and differs from the others in that it is a direct fairy tale retelling of Grimms Snow White Rose Red combined with the store of Swan Lake. Written in McLemores characteristic magical realist style, Blanca & Roja takes place in a town on the edge of a magical and treacherous forest where humans can become bears and human swans. Like all her novels there is also the element of finding ones true self. I thoroughly enjoyed it

I made it halfway through the book by force. Cannot continue, so many other better things to read.
I really should like this, it's so in my wheelhouse. But, it's like there's no setting, and the pov character voices could be interchangeable. I feel like I'm missing something here.
