I liked this much more than her first book. This was fast paced but still revealed clues slowly building up to the ending. This was definitely hard to put down.

Oooh this one was so good! I was hooked as soon as I started! Isabelle is a flawed character, one that you struggle to like and dislike at the same time. She's human and just searching for her missing son. Her life was like a kaleidoscope. With each twist and turn, the light would illuminate some other detail of her life and you would wonder about her. Is this a person that could hurt a baby? was she a bad mom? What happened to her son? I loved the secrets and the reveals. The ending kept me gue ...more

I loved Stacy Willingham's first book, A Flicker in the Dark, so when this one came up as a Book of the Month selection, I knew I wanted to read it. I absolutely loved it. It started a little bit slow in the beginning for me, but never to the point where I wanted to put it down. And then once it really ramped up, I was absolutely hooked and could not put it down. I had a relatively strong inkling about where the book was headed, but I severely underestimated the full depth of it. That ending sho ...more

This was a fast, thoughtful suspense without any of the silly eye-rolling twists of many current books of this genre. I stayed up until 2 last night reading it because I needed to know how it ended! The author’s note at the end was the perfect complement to the social issues this one explored, which are sadly all too relevant in the news right now.

Yeah, so Stacy Willingham is moving quickly up my list of favorite thriller authors. Her narrator, Isabelle Drake, is such a great character. I began to wonder just how reliable she was at one point; even she began to question herself. And yet, she's so likeable and real. Willingham does a beautiful job of creating suspense and guiding her readers through twist after twist. And she handles the difficult themes with gentleness too - depression, losing a child, mom guilt, even psychosis. I have Wi ...more

We’re all a story within a story and a story of our own stories and I’m my own narrator of my story who is the narrator of life! Someone told me good writing meant three literary devices per paragraph!
