This is a fun one! Jennifer Weiner is back with another hit book. This one centers around music and fame but is written in the same style Jennifer Weiner always uses and continues to capture the tension and love of sisters. Cassie and Zoe are very close in age but could not be more different. Zoe is pretty, social, and popular. Cassie is insecure, awkward, and beyond talented. I had high expectations for this one based on the premise and the first chapter, but it just fell flat for me--- partly because of the length and slow pacing but more so, because of the characters. I just never felt fully invested in any of them and by the end, I was just read to close the book and move on.
Lastly, the brief chapters from the perspective of Zoe and Cassie's mom, Janice, and the addition of Cherry's stepbrother's storyline, were so unnecessary to the overall flow of the book, mak ...more
