Not as shocking as The Handmaid’s Tale, but didn’t disappoint. I was not crazy about one of the protagonists, and didn’t find some aspects totally believable (without giving anything away, I thought it was almost “too easy). But a definite page turner. A few questions left unanswered, so maybe one more book on the way?

I had heard mixed reviews about The Testaments. The Handmaid’s Tale was such a unique, creative, and scary cautionary tale of how life was so repressive and dangerous for women. I really loved The Handmaid’s Tale, so was happy to have a follow-up book. I liked, The Testaments, but didn’t love it. It was just a continuation of Life in Gilead further on in time. It did not pull me in as much and I didn’t feel the same attachment to the characters.

Told from three points of view including two young girls (one growing up in free Canada and one inside Gilead) as well as returning character, Aunt Lydia, you'll find out what's happening on all sides and let me say, nothing is quite as it appears.

This book is a brilliant but late follow up to Handmaids Tale. Thank you so much for writing it and giving us hope that our current Gilead will soon fall.

The book felt more interesting than the first with the varying perspectives. It was a little frustrating how vague parts of it are, but that is the style of the “transcripts
