Before I do this I would like to make a quick statement to my friends who have not read this ABSOFRAKKINLUTELY AWESOME book yet:

Some of you seem to be afraid of the cliffhanger. And it is a bit brutal after the blinding joy of like 90% of the book, BUT I won't find the wait any harder than the ones we've already had in this series. This is a series centered on one couple. Now that my heart palpitations have stopped after reading the final scene in Opal, I feel sufficiently focused to write my review. And its pretty much impossible to write this without spoilers,so you are warned.

At the end of Onyx, the second book in the Lux series by Jennifer L Armentrout, Katy and Daemon dodged a number of proverbial bullets and although it cost them Dee鈥檚 boyfriend, it also brought Daemon鈥檚 brother home. Opal begins where Onyx left off, with a sad, damaged Dawson obsessed with Now that my heart palpitations have stopped after reading the final scene in Opal, I feel sufficiently focused to write my review. At the end of Onyx, the second book in the Lux series by Jennifer L Armentrout, Katy and Daemon dodged a number of proverbial bullets and although it cost them Dee鈥檚 boyfriend, it also brought Daemon鈥檚 brother home. Opal begins where Onyx left off, with a sad, damaged Dawson obsessed with getting Beth back, Dee going through the stages of grief over Adam, and Katy and Daemon 鈥榮 feelings for each other blossoming into something beautiful and strong. And thank goodness for that, because they are going to need each other...

Everyone鈥檚 nerves are on edge at the start, and with good reason. It isn鈥檛 long before an old enemy returns with an ultimatum that Katy and Daemon feel they must accept, starting a sequence of events that you know aren鈥檛 going to end well.

And in spite of all their trouble, Katy and Daemon are falling in love. They really, really talk to each other in Opal, and even though they don鈥檛 always agree, they deal with it instead of running away. They鈥檝e both matured, although there鈥檚 still plenty of teasing, flirty comments from Daemon. Ms. Armentrout does a smashing job with the romance between these two. Keeping Katy鈥檚 mom鈥檚 presence to a minimum really let the reader focus on what was happening in Katy and Daemon鈥檚 world as their feelings for each other grow. It all felt very intimate and romantic.

Katy captures so much with these 6 words.

"We kissed. We talked. We lived."

Of course, there is plenty of action too. As with the past books in the series, the pacing had me reading nonstop and the build-up to the final scene had me on the edge of my seat. The final action sequence is simply incredible, melding action and emotion perfectly.

Besides Katy and Daemon, I thought Dee had some noteworthy moments. Her behavior after the events of Onyx really rang true for me and her evolving relationship with Katy was a very satisfying part of Opal.

And what can I say about the ultimate villain, Blake. I almost hate to even type his name. He causes so much heartache. Again. Between his creepiness, his blackmail, and his lie after lie, he's easy to peg as the bad guy. But just how deep is he involved with this? I can鈥檛 help but feel there is more to this story.t. What is Luc's involvement? Is he a villain or a victim? Still so many unanswered questions.

And that's just the way I like it. Tight writing, lots of action, emotion and romance that left me wanting more.

Kudos to Ms Armentrout for a gut-wrenching cliffhanger which will be imprinted on my brain until the release of Origin, the next book in the series, which has an anticipated release date of July 2013. ...more

Ok so this book was just aslkjadfakldsja all together. Like I'm talking holy alien babies on fire here, IT WAS SO DAMN GOOD.
I'm not even gonna lie, I totally spazzed out at the last few pages and Katy and Daemon's chemistry was out of this world.
I'm giving it a 4.5, minus half a point because of Dee. It kinda bothered me how aloof she was for most of the book and I wanted the old Dee back, even though I get she's grieving and all.
Anyway, read it, you know you want to.

Oh. My. Damn!!!

Even though Obsidian is still my favorite, this book was not of this world ;) haha cheesy! Daemon is hotter than ever. He might even end up surpassing Patch or Jace as hottest book boyfriend. And my God, we see his sweet side like never before, and it knocked me on my ass.

I won't bore you with a long review. I mean, there are plenty of those out there. There is one thing I want to say...okay maybe two. (1.) Ash needs to be put in her place. I expect Katy to hit her...in the face.. ...more

OMG! This is the best book in the Lux series yet. It was so full of emotion and action. I felt everything Katy was feeling. Love, anger, and jealousy. I'm still reeling in the feelings. I can't wait until the next book comes out. I have to know what happens. I can only imagine what Daemon is feeling. This is a must read. If you haven't picked up this series I highly recommend that you do so imediately. I love Jennifer Arementrout. She has such a wonderful method of writing that I am truly swept ...more

i love this series you always think you know whats gonna happen then its like bam b*tched slaped up side your head with something else. daemon is the guy you love to hate, but in this book i really just loved him. katy was a little whinny but really who could blame her. i think one of my favorite scenes was with dee. oh man there were just too many good scenes though......must read

Jennifer has done it again. My heart feels like it has been completely ripped out of my chest. I am a huge fan of the Covenant Series, however, with this book, I think the Lux series has taken over as my favorite. I dont want to give anything away, but I just felt so betrayed by the end. I cannot wait for the next book, and know that I am about to go read this one again.....

i literally stared at the last paged flipped to the next page stared at that page for a minute, flipped back and then repeated that action over ten times.
