Couldn't get through it. Tried three times. The financial stuff was a giant bore. The sexual abuse was the nail in the coffin.
UPDATE--I finally made it through because it is required reading for a workshop I'd like to take. I still fail to see the attraction. I admit to having a bad attitude when it comes to this book, so take what I say with a grain of salt. it seemed like a poorly paced murder mystery to me and nothing more. Once you get into this book, which it does take a good hundred pages to get into, but then it grabs you by the hair and takes you on one wild ride. A surprisingly dark tale of espionage, murder, mystery, crime, and yes, romance. The characters came to life, especially Salander, the girl with the dragon tattoo. I just fell in love with her, in a motherly sort of way. My only complaint? Seemingly long, useless passages such as an entire page explaining the laptop options available for Salander to

Quite good; a slow start, but I was hooked by page 100. The middle of the book was probably the best—the ending, although I read it breathlessly, was a little so-so. I was hoping the story would be spread over three books, but it appears each book focuses on a different thing. I would have liked more gradual development.

This was a really good book! I actually started it on Friday and finished it on Monday. We had a long weekend and we went to the cottage so I had alot of quality time with my new book lol
I was a little worried at the beginning but when they brought in Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander, I was hooked. I highly recommend this book for sure. It was well written, it was really very graphic and it was definately a book that I could not put down...Obviousley seeing I read 800 pages in 4 days lol

Author held my interest from Page 1 to the very last period. Sometimes it was a white-knuckle read, an unputdownable book. Characters are believable and varied throughout. I admire the heroine, Salander, and her resourcefulness and her ability to overcome odds and rejection without shedding one tear. She has a tough exterior, stoic and not prone to frivolous things like fashion and make-up and boyfriends. She flies solo in all matters, never whines, never pleads for help, never questions her own

I started this book and couldn't put it down. I don't think it was well written, and I don't know if it deserved 5 stars but I couldn't even put it down to eat. I haven't read a book that kept me interested, like this book did, for a long time. I want to read the next couple in the series but don't want them to be a let down. I don't think I liked the girl with the tattoo but enjoyed all the other characters around her. :)

I really wasn't sure how I'd like this one, but I've heard so much about it that it piqued my interest. A lot of the financial and computer hacking stuff was over my head, but the story mostly centered around the Vanger family and the disappearance of Harriet 36 years before, and once they started to delve into that I could hardly put the book down, I just had to know the whole story. I thought Mikael and Lisbeth made a great team working together, and it was good to see them both come out on to

Loved it. First book in a long time that I just couldn't put down. The mysteries were great and the characters likable. I happened to see the sequel the next day and had to buy it. I would recommend this to almost everyone, but note that it is a bit dirty, so if you're sensitive to that stuff, you may want to pass.

Parts were interesting, but a slow beginning. Part were too graphic for me. I haven't decided whether I'll read the next book in the series.
