Margaret Sharp is a superlative storyteller, with perfect pitch for the resonant frequencies of fraught human relationships. Her stories, though, are written with a deft hand, clarity of vision, and a choice always to lift up the reader. Emotionally serious, but definitely the antithesis of bleak and depressing. An anodyne to melancholy. Five stars.
