What Members Thought
Terrific history with a great deal of original research. I particularly enjoyed the chapter(s) on the Philippines during World War II and the (brutal) Battle of Manila. The chapter on the competition for and adoption of global measurement standards was also interesting. The debate over Puerto Rico's place/identity in America makes this book especially relevant for some time to come.

Another example of needing to a more comprehensive approach to teaching Americans about their own history. Immerwahr does a wonderful job of weaving stories together and keeping to his main theme throughout.
Excellent overview of the Greater United States
Every chapter has a nugget of information that is not common knowledge. Learned a lot about the history of the US, puts many things in perspective
