I love duologies, and Jessica Shirvington has written one of my favourite duologies out there. Granted I haven't read/finished all that many...this series is still pretty high on the list.

Disruption pretty much left us readers on a cliffhanger as Maggie's ploy to find her dad failed and led to her capture by M-Corp. I love duologies, and Jessica Shirvington has written one of my favourite duologies out there. Granted I haven't read/finished all that many...this series is still pretty high on the list.

Disruption pretty much left us readers on a cliffhanger as Maggie's ploy to find her dad failed and led to her capture by M-Corp. Corruption picks up immediately following Maggie's capture as we learn about her time held underground in one of the jail cells. As time passes, Maggie's psyche is pushed to the limit until she is suddenly released without an explanation. While she's suspicious of her circumstances, Maggie's first thought is to find Quentin so she heads to the school only to find Quentin has moved on completely.

Gareth Mercer's ploy is soon revealed and Maggie is on the run again in this fast paced novel that moves along so quickly the reader barely has time to blink. I continue to love Maggie as we see her transform from a weak girl that's been captured and isolated in an underground prison, to the strong and determined person we fell in love with in book one. While the plot moves along quickly, the pacing of Maggie's return to strength is believable and not rushed.

Old characters return and loose knots are tied up seamlessly in this concluding book. Quentin and Maggie continue to dance around each other, which can be forgiven as Maggie did betray his trust. However, their chemistry shines through and you know what I love best about these two? They actually communicate with each other. They actually put their problems on the table and talk about it. There's angst but it's not so overwhelming that you want to slam both of them against a wall. It's quite sad that such a small thing can excite me so much in books these days.

While I adore Quentin and Maggie, my favourite character is still Gus. Oh Gus. He's like a beacon in Maggie's downward spiral into revenge, and roots her to reality when her elaborate plans become too crazy. His protectiveness is just wonderful and I love him so much. I will miss his sass.

The only issue I had was how everything seemed to resolve itself too smoothly. There is action (plenty, don't you worry) and there is death (OH GOD WHY). All the loose ends are completely tied up by the final chapter and everything plays out the way it should for a concluding book. I guess I just kind of wanted more oomph and maybe a more open-ended conclusion (like Between the Lives), but that's not to say I didn't enjoy the one I got.

Overall, Jessica Shirvington can do no wrong. I've enjoyed all the books of hers that I've read so far, and I highly anticipate her next ones. Aussie authors for the win! ...more

A bit soppy at times, but still a fairly enjoyable read - hopefully not a cautionary tale about where our own society is heading!

I read the first one in this series, Disruption, 3.5 years ago - and this was definitely too long between these books. This book doesn't go over anything, so when I started this, I was all at sea trying to remember what had happened previously!
