So this was a very intriguing story about a "boy" who curses himself to everlasting beauty while a portrait of him reflects all the hardships of his life. I bet it makes a great movie.
I'm glad I did this in audiobook, because Oscar Wilde did 2 things that just drove me nuts: 1) he would go off on tangents (at least twice) which lasted close to 15 minutes about things that had no point to the story--the items in Dorian's home, or the things he saw in his world travels...descriptive sentences that ...more

This was for bookclub. I liked it but got tired of some of the "witty" remarks and social commentary. Although I was familiar with the story I had never read the book. It's definitely interesting and I can see how it could be considered quite scandalous for it's time.

We had to read this in high school, and I don't remember particularly liking it. But I didn't dislike it, either. The concept of the picture that changes when you don't has been something I've thought of off and on over the years. Just very interesting.
