I was definitely more invested in this story at the end than I had been at the beginning, mainly because I was pretty lost as to what was happening when it started. I didn't really understand what a Curse Worker was until about halfway through the book. Once I got it, then the story started to flow a little better. Some of the episodes felt a bit rushed (in particular the whole cat part), but overall I enjoyed the book. ...more

This really is Holly Black's best yet. There's nothing not to love here-- a mystery, engaging characters, humor, suspense, magic, teenage angst, family relationships and a plot twist right at the end that had me clutching my metaphorical pearls. I absolutely love the world she's built here, and I cannot *wait* for the next installment so I can read more about it. ...more
