I'm going to do my best to avoid spoilers of both Anna Dressed in Blood听补苍诲 Girl of Nightmares, but just in case spoiler potential would keep you from reading my review(s), here's the gist: You should go buy these. Even if you don't like horror, even if you don't like urban legends,聽even if you don't like YA or romance or contemporary or mysteries or ghost stories and gore, or any of the things that make up this book, you should really have these on your shelves. This book was a fantastic follow-up to Anna Dressed in Blood. I went into it hoping that Kendare Blake would hold up the standards of creepiness and intriguing plot that I fell in love with and she delivered!

I love, love, love Cas. He is the ultimate badass while still being a good guy. He has attitude, and acts exactly like a teenage male would be expected to act, however he doesn't cross over into the realm of ultimate douchebaggery to me. I was sad that Anna didn't play more of a role in this book at the beginning, I really like her character and would have loved to see her character explored and rounded out more. Even if it was simply in the form of flashes from her point of view without Cas being involved. However, I was pleased that Cas's visions of Anna and the beginning of the mystery was not drawn out too long. (view spoiler)

As for scary scenes... this book delivered!! A battle in an abandoned factory with a ghost who's skin looks like lava and can burn the life right out of it's victims. A suicide forest with corpses hanging from trees everywhere. How much better can it get??!!?? I was definitely on the edge of my seat for several scenes in this book. They were as well done as the first book's and never felt forced or cheesy.

Our old nemesis the Obeahman comes back as well, which wasn't surprising but I am glad that we got a new take on him. It didn't feel like a rehasing of the first story, my only complaint is that up until the end no one really seemed to know how he did what he did or have any explanations for the whole "strong ghost we don't understand" phenomenon that has been the Obeahman (view spoiler)

Overall this book is a MUST READ if you liked the first book, or if you just like a well written ghost story in general. These books have never been just a typical ghost story for me, and I look forward to what we see from Kendare Blake in the future. She has definitely turned me into a fangirl :)
