On day Simon Morley is approached by the government to take part in a secret project. It turns out that he has been identified as having the qualities required to make him a candidate for time travel. He is assigned to to New York city in the winter of 1882. In order to attempt time travel, Simon must live as if he is in that time until one day, he just is. Simon falls in love with New York in 1882 and the people he meets there and soon he must make a tough choice that could affect the future.

I nearly gave up on this book when I was nearly half-way through (222 pages out of 480). There was just way too much detailed description of 1882 New York and its people. I kept waiting for the author to get on with the story, and eventually started simply skipping multiple paragraphs of irrelevant description.
That must have been about when things turned around, because when I went back to it I found that things actually started happening, and I enjoyed it from then on. I'm still giving it only ...more
