After reading two of Haig's books fairly close together, his focus on apathy is really apparent. He takes interesting angles, like say vampires posing as a suburban family, but his themes seem consistent.
They usually end up well, so I can't quite decide if he's trying to spread a message of hope, but I feel like the apathy of the characters making reading the books a bit of a slog. ...more

Really enjoyed this tale of vampires trying to be good whilst raising children who know not of their vampire identity until it all goes horribly wrong.
