I think this may be my favorite of the series. I love a good caper story and this one had a number of instances where our scrappy band of heroes have to assume different personae and steal something against overwhelming odds. Kaldar is a charming con man but Audrey is no helpless fly caught in his web. She's a seasoned grifter who gives as good as she gets and I love their interplay. I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. I didn't get a good sense of Kaldar Mar in the last book, and I wasn't sure he could carry a whole book himself. He actually didn't. This book was rich with characters. I thought Audrey was awesome. Poor girl had just got handed a really crap hand in life and she was just trying to make the best of it, but her family just kept on screwing things up for her. She and Kaldar really did make a great couple together. LOL, two thieves trying to turn straight
