I loved Ender's Game so I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I soon discovered that it is so much more than 'a parallel telling' of EG - it is simply the life story of Bean. We learn everything important about Bean from the age of two (and eventually even before, thanks to Sister Carlota). I enjoyed this parallel book to Ender's Game. I didn't like it quite as much as Ender's Game, but I thought it did a nice job of picking up the same story and telling it from a very different perspective. This was perfect reading while I'm studying for the Bar Exam since it isn't too intellectually taxing and doesn't involve any law.
